Sojourn is a brief respite that comes upon this season of transition. A lone figure sits on a swing, suspended in the space of light and shadow, indicating a transient place rather than an ultimate place. Surface is constructed through layered texture and subtle contrast, allowing the space to feel inhabited and ongoing. Hints of gold move through the composition, representing resilience, hope, and the strength found while passing through uncertain moments. The piece captures something of the feelings between things like where we have been and where we are going.
